Brighten, Tighten, GLOW!

Hello lovelies!

I’m finally back with another blog post. I know I was MIA for the longest time after creating this blog but…life happens. I’ve made a promise to myself to blog at least once a week from now on so hold me to it! I’m back, full force this time so stay posted for more posts to come!

A lot of my friends have been asking me what I’ve been doing differently in my skincare routine and it’s made me the HAPPIEST girl in the world!  If you know me personally, you will understand that I wear my anxiety-filled life ON my face. It’s neither fun nor flattering especially with this frigid, cold weather swaying my skin’s health and appearance.  Have you ever noticed how we tend to pay more money for organic and natural skincare cosmetics? So many high-end brands sell masks, toners and exfoliant scrubs for what they claim to be “natural” but take a closer look at the ingredients and really think about what you are putting on your face. In my opinion, if you can’t pronounce it, it’s not natural or organic.  I constantly remind myself that what you put ON your body is just as important as what you put inside your body.

Mother nature has been oh so insensitive to our skin this winter, so I decided to share a natural DIY facemask you all can make with organic ingredients found right in your kitchen! I love this mask because you know exactly what goes into it and it actually works! This detoxifying face mask brightens, exfoliates, tightens, moisturizes and eliminates acne blemishes with only four powerful ingredients! So let’s get started.

You will need:

honey1. Organic Honey

sugar

2. Sugar (brown or white)

EVOO3. Extra virgin olive oil

lemon4. Half a lemon

All you need to do is combine 1 tablespoon of organic honey, sugar, olive oil and the juice of half a lemon in a small bowl. You can add more honey or sugar depending on the consistency that you like. I typically use this mask twice a week in the evening before I shower and wake up to a fully refreshed, clean face!

Benefits:

Sugar: Healing of blemishes, less harsh on sensitive skin than salt, sloths away dry, dead skin that build up everyday.

Honey: High in antioxidants, antibacterial & antiseptic (great for acne), naturally soothes and moisturizes.

EVOO: Anti-inflammatory, protects against UV rays, packed with antioxidants, hydrates skin.

Lemon: Works in the body by drawing out toxins, highly alkaline helping to regulate body’s natural pH level, contains many antioxidants, rich in vitamin C, has an energizing and uplifting effect on the body overall. Lemon also works as a natural bleaching agent which lightens hair and skin, hence the brightening effect after a couple of uses.

You can store this mask in the fridge for about 4 days and guys, don’t be afraid to try this DIY regimen!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Love always,

Megan-signature

    1. Thank you so much for reading, Deepa! I’m so happy you’re going to try this out, it’s great for all skin types-especialy where the Clinique 3-step system isn’t quite agreeing with your skin at the moment, I really think the moisture from the honey and olive oil will be beneficial to you! Let me know if it works with you 🙂 Love you!

  1. Megan, enjoyed reading your blog & I am going to try this out!! Keep this coming, cannot wait for what is going to be next………….

  2. Just pinned this! Always looking for something to help my skin. Thanks for sharing Meg! Do you think this could work for any skin type?

    1. Of course, gorgeous Tay! Thank you for reading! 🙂 I typically have oily skin so this helps rid away dead skin and gives a glowing complexion but lately, with these cold months, my skin has been SUPER dry and this mask works just as well! Especially where all the ingredients are natural, it shouldn’t be harmful or irritate your skin in any way. So any skin type would work with this DIY!

Leave some love!
