Lately, apple cider vinegar has been my new obsession. I typically use it as a natural beauty product but the more I look into the uses of ACV, the more I learn and the more I love.
I apologize in advance for the long post, I hate reading long blogs but this super product has so many properties to talk about. So let’s dive right into it!
ACV has countless benefits on our bodies such as weight loss, soothes sunburnt skin, balances out the pH level of skin and my all time favorite, it’s a natural hair rinse. Basically ACV is a “cure-all” remedy for the body.
- Weight-loss– Although I haven’t personally tried this out yet, I’ve seen numerous amounts of people who use ACV in order to lose weight. I’ve researched many types of ACV that works best with this method of weight loss and Bragg’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar from Whole Foods seem to be the most popular. The most effective method of downing this acidic solution is by diluting 2 tablespoons of ACV with a full glass of water morning and evening. Now, like I said previously, I have NOT tried this method of weight loss but I’ve heard it’s very effective. I’m still coming to terms with the fact that I will be drinking vinegar but I know with time I will eventually start doing this due to the numerous, effective properties ACV has. Ingesting ACV also helps detoxify your body from the inside out, supports digestive health, regulate your body’s blood sugar levels and balance out the body’s pH level. Also, ACV helps detoxify the liver, which is why a lot of alcoholics cleanse their body internally with ACV–fun fact for the day!
- Hair Rinse- I’m very cautious of what I put into my hair as I am with my skin. When it comes to styling my hair everyday, I try to keep it natural as possible. Of course, on some occasions I enjoy going the extra mile to fix it, what girl doesn’t? This hair rinse is particulary great for those who apply a lot of products in their hair throughout the week and need to remove the buildup of these products. I have long, thick hair, therefore I mix 2 cups of warm water with 1 cup of ACV. I either take my mixture into the shower or apply it over the sink. First saturating my scalp and roots then working my way to the ends. Leave in for 10 minutes, rinse with warm water then apply your shampoo/conditioner as usual. You will instantly feel your hair silky smooth due to the vinegar removing the excess buildup of products. I also felt as if I had a lot more volume because the weight of the product in my scalp was gone. This rinse is strong even after diluting it so try to work past the stringent smell. PLEASE avoid getting this rinse into your eyes-I thought I lost an eyeball when some dripped into my eyes!
- Facial toner- You all know I have sensitive, hormonal, cystic acne prone skin. I know, I have the most problematic skin, ever. It’s really challenging for me to treat my cystic acne in a harsh manner when I have sensitive skin but when I tried using ACV as a facial toner, I was surprised to see that it actually did help with my dark spots and acne without being too harsh. All I do for this mixture is mix one part ACV with two parts water. I recommend doing this solely at night so you aren’t walking around smelling like vinegar throughout the day!
I hope you all enjoy some of these uses of Apple Cider Vinegar! Let me know how these DIY’s work for you!
Of course I can’t forget to thank you all for the tremendous support and constant love you have been giving me since I started my blog, it truly means so much. Keep sending me messages, texts and comments of what you all like/don’t like and want to see more of! I love hearing your feedback.
