Happy Sunday everyone!
Am I the only one who feels obligated to buy products when I have coupons? My monthly Ulta coupons always gets the best of me and I’m guilty of always making some type of purchase, whether I need it or not. The other day, I stumbled across the Maybelline Vivid’s Collection. I’ve always seen the beautiful neon, bright colored shades sitting on the shelves but was never interested until I took the time to swatch a few and honestly, it was love at first swatch.
The collection comprises of 10 HIGHLY pigmented shades of pinks, reds, oranges and purples—perfect for the bold, summer pout. On this impromptu shopping trip to Ulta, I picked up the color, Fuchsia Flash.
There are three things I look for when choosing a lipstick-consistency, lasting power and finish.
Consistency–With my dry skin, it’s difficult for me to wear matte colors without my lips looking like a raisin (seriously). Fortunately, the formula of this line is very creamy and super moisturizing. I love that I can wear a bright color without my lips getting flaky and dry!
Lasting Power–I wanted to test out the lasting power without a lip liner first and had to touch up 2-3 times throughout the day. It does transfer, unfortunately, but what do you expect from a drugstore lipstick, right? Although I had to touch up only a couple of times, I recommend using a lip liner to accentuate the lasting power. Regardless, I’m very satisfied with how long it lasted on my lips.
Finish: I can’t speak for the rest of the shades but Fuchsia Flash is a satin finish. Below you can see the slight glossy/shiny finish it has. These lipsticks are very true to color and super pigmented–I was impressed with the color payoff!
P.S- I heard Fuchsia Flash is an exact dupe of MAC’s Candy Yum Yum and wanted to check it out for myself. In one of the pictures below, I’m wearing Candy Yum Yum, can you guess which one it is? 😉
I can’t wait to go back and pick up some other shades from this line! What are your favorite lipstick colors you’ve been pouting this summer?
